Recycle or DIE!!!

Would you want to live your elderly life in a planet full with trash? I don’t know you but you probably don’t.
Most people would agree that recycling is the right thing to do.  But they don’t. According to a new Harris Poll, one-fourth of American adults do not recycle. Why do people not recycle, is it because people don’t care?
“Among the anti-recyclers, one in six said they don't recycle because it wasn't available in their area; 12 percent, on the other hand, said it takes too much effort, plus it costs more to recycle in their neighborhoods. Another 11 percent said recycling was, well, rubbish and doesn't make a difference; 6 percent said they were too busy and 5 percent found recycling too difficult.” (http://www.treehugger.com/culture/23-percent-of-americans-donatmt-recycle.html)
Like many neighborhoods, my neighborhood doesn’t have the resources for recycling. My family saves recyclables in a span of one or two months before we make the effort to drive to the nearest recycling center, which is 30 minutes away. My friend who lives in the school dorm notices that there are no recycling bins around. Those who do not have cars have no choice but to throw away their recyclables into the trash bins out of convenience.
A confused recycler says, “You can’t mix this plastic with that one. Cardboard is OK, but not that pizza box, even though it’s cardboard. Recyclers have their own language. It’s like a foreign country, and I don’t want to be a tourist there.”
People usually don’t recycle because they don’t think it will make a difference, there are no recycling centers around their neighborhood, they are too busy to recycle, and they don’t know what can be recycled and what can’t be.
Are all of these excuses really worth damaging our planet Earth over?

   How recycling works
When you recycle, the items are used to manufacture new products. And when you don’t, they are wasted, become hazard for this planet, and pollute the view of your future home.
Here is what happens to properly recycled items.

We understand that sorting recyclable items can be confusing and difficult. Here is an image that might lessen your confusion.

 Fun Facts :
This post was made in an attempt to shock people into recycling. So here are some facts that might do so.

  • Sweden imports waste from neighboring countries to power their waste-to-energy program.
  • Every 3 seconds a baby is born. In that time, 140 cans are born.
  • Since 1972 Americans have recycled 37 billion lbs. or 1,099 trillion aluminum cans and earned over $25 million by recycling aluminum beverage cans.
  • It takes 75,000 trees to print a Sunday Edition of the New York Times.
  • Enough energy is saved by recycling one aluminum can to run a TV set for three hours or to light one 100 watt bulb for 20 hours.
